About

I am an Assistant Professor at the Department of Methodology and Statistics, Maastricht University, The Netherlands. I develop statistical methods that help researchers in psychology, medicine and the life sciences get more out of their experiments and longitudinal studies, and I turn these methods into open-source software.
Research focus
- Complex data analysis for experimental designs: interindividual differences in custom contrasts using structural equation modeling (SEM)
- Intensive longitudinal data: dynamic SEM for intraindividual variability in experiments
- Machine learning & data mining: subgroup discovery in psychological studies
- fMRI: realistic noise simulation for accurate power calculation
- Open science and AI in education: open-source software, reproducible workflows, open educational resources
On this site
- CV: academic positions, education, research interests
- Publications: articles, chapters, software and talks, filterable by topic
- Software: R packages implementing my methods, such as
semnovaandsubgroupsem - Funding & Awards: research grants, scholarships and awards
